ASCO 2026: A potential functional cure in endometrial cancer, with Eric Richards

Oncology

For GSK, ASCO 2026 was about long-term follow-up data, with new data from ongoing trials of Jemperli and Blenrep.

Eric Richards, SVP and head of oncology project leadership at GSK, spoke with pharmaphorum Editor in Chief Jonah Comstock on the sidelines of the show.

The four-year Jemperli data is especially exciting, as it showed that more than half of patients on a combination of Jemperli and chemotherapy had long-term low-risk status, suggestive of a functional cure. The conference also brought encouraging data on velzatinib, the company’s next generation KIT inhibitor, in gastrointestinal tumours, and frontline Blenrep data in multiple myeloma.

Richards also discusses the evolution of the oncology space and what it will take for ADCs to realise their full potential and decrease the need for chemotherapy in more clinical settings. He gives an overview of GSK’s strategy in oncology and shares his excitement over new frontiers in immune-oncology.
