Changing Faces: Agency and investor hires in Dec and Jan

Though decidedly slower than some of the other sectors we tracked, December and January did have their share of hires in the marketing and communications world around pharma, as well as one notable investor hire. The agency hires include CEOs and presidents, as well as some C-suite and VP-level hires.

Inizio subsidiary under new leadership. Research Partnership, a global life sciences research company recently acquired by advisory firm Inizio Advisory, has appointed Gareth Phillips – whose resumé includes leadership posts at Ipsos and IQVIA – as its new CEO. The group was formerly led by co-founding Directors Mary Assimakopoulos and Mark Jeffery, who will remain with the company as advisors.

SCORR sources new leadership from within. Life sciences marketing agency SCORR Marketing has promoted Krystle Buntemeyer, its former president who’s been with agency for 18 years, to the role of CEO. The company has made another internal promotion to fill the role of president – Lea LaFerla, who has been with the company for six years.

CREATION.co makes C-Suite hire. Mary Fletcher-Louis, formerly of DRG Abacus, joined healthcare consulting group CREATION.co as head of consulting and chief operations officer. Fletcher-Louis has 25 years of experience in pharma consulting and strategy.

Alira Health underscores patient centricity with C-level hire. Alira Health, a Boston-based life sciences advisory, named Annabel De Maria its chief patient officer. Based out of the company’s Barcelona office, she joined the company as vice president of patient engagement in 2020. Prior to that her career includes stints at Pfizer, Bayer, and Novartis Spain.

Other agency hires. A smattering of other moves were announced in December and January by agencies and advisory groups.

  • The Klick Group announced a high-profile hire as president of its new Commercial Services group: Brian C. Fox, former head of McKinsey’s Commercial Practice in Life Sciences.
  • dentsu, a consultancy/advisory firm, has promoted Greg Reilly to president of dentsu health. Reilly helped found denstu health; prior to that he led sales at Outcome Health, a technology company.
  • Indegene, a life sciences commercialisation company, brought onboard Peter Marchesini as a senior vice president. He was most recently president of field solutions at Eversana.

Abingworth brings on Bain Capital vet. Life sciences investor Joy Ghosh, whose CV includes investment roles at Bain Capital and Eventide and business development roles at Biogen and Novartis, is joining UK-based life sciences investment firm and Carlyle subsidiary Abingworth as a managing director.
