Driving innovation through partnership at AstraZeneca, with Nikhil Mutyal
One of the main goals of the LSX conference, held in Boston in September, is to create a forum for small biotechs and start-ups to connect with potential partners, especially large and medium-sized pharma companies.
In the video below, pharmaphorum editor-in-chief Jonah Comstock catches up with Nikhil Mutyal, head of search and evaluation for respiratory and immunology at AstraZeneca, to learn a bit about how he approaches partnership and external innovation.
Mutyal talks about some of the modalities and therapeutic areas of particular interest to his team at the moment, including bispecific antibodies. He also talks about dealmaking more broadly – why AstraZeneca looks outward for innovation and what kind of partnerships are the most likely to succeed.
“You build trust, you build relationships, and when the right science comes along, the deal gets done,” Mutyal says.
