Changing Faces - Agency, consultancy, and investor hires

With apologies for the lateness, we didn’t want to miss the opportunity to acknowledge the many moves in the pharma agency space in April. Stay tuned for a round-up of more recent hires soon. April was a significant month in the agency, consultancy, and investor spaces, so it’s certainly worth a look.

ProPharma bolsters executive team. Raleigh, NC-based research consulting organisation ProPharma, made significant additions to its executive team this month. Kirk Wroblewski, most recently the chief data officer for HealthFirst, was appointed as chief information officer, while Zosya Popik was promoted from VP of global marketing to chief marketing officer. Finally, Andrew Shaw, who previously led the legal team at UK med device company Perspectum, joined as general counsel.

Elsevier makes strategy hire. Elsevier, a healthcare publisher and global leader in scientific information and analytics, appointed Dr Kieran West as EVP Strategy. Dr West brings a wealth of experience, having served as a strategy director at Bupa Global and UK, and an associate partner at McKinsey.

Business development a priority for BioLizard, iiCON. BioLizard, a Swiss-Belgian bioinformatics, data analytics, and data management service and consulting company, welcomed Matthew Hall as director of business development. Hall has held leadership roles in a variety of Swiss healthcare start-ups. And iiCON, a UK government-supported consortium of industry, academia, and clinicians focused on infectious diseases, appointed Patryk Kot as senior business development manager. Kot, Professor of Microwave Sensor Technologies at Liverpool John Moores University, brings a wealth of academic experience to the role.

Two VC firms add partners. Sofinnova Partners, a European life sciences VC firm based in Paris, announced the addition of two new partners: Anta Gkelou, previously a principal on the capital strategy team, and Guillaume Baxter, formerly a principal on the industrial biotech strategy team, joined the firm. In another significant move, Global Healthcare Opportunities, the European specialist investor in global healthcare, welcomed Garry Menzel as an operating partner. Menzel brings over 25 years of experience in building healthcare businesses.

CHPA brings on regulatory heavy hitter. The Consumer Healthcare Products Association, the national trade association representing makers of consumer healthcare products, appointed Michael A Bailey as SVP of regulatory & scientific affairs. Bailey brings four decades of regulatory experience at companies like Roche, Johnson & Johnson, and Pfizer.

Board appointments round out the month. In agency news, New York-based full-service commercial agency, minds + assembly welcomed former CEO and Chair of Publicis Health Nick Colucci, to their Board of Directors. Highwire PR, a PR firm focused on the life sciences industry, also expanded its Board of Directors with the addition of comms professionals Dave Samson and Adam Cossman, who bring a combined 60 years of experience including stints at Edelman, Real Chemistry, Ketchum, and more.

That’s it for this round-up. Remember, if you’ve had a recent appointment and you work in or around the pharma space, we want to hear about it. Please send your press releases to editorial@pharmaphorum.com to be included in future editions of Changing Faces.
