Changing Faces: Digital and supplier hires, August 2026
Digital health, clinical technology, contract services, and life sciences suppliers all saw notable leadership changes last month, with companies appointing experienced executives to drive growth, commercial strategy, scientific innovation, and operational performance.
From AI-native biology platforms and clinical trial technology providers to CDMOs and medtech firms, here are the latest people moves from across the sector.
MasterControl turns to internal commercial leader for CEO role. MasterControl, which provides AI-enabled quality, manufacturing, and asset management software for life sciences and other highly regulated industries, appointed Dave Edwards as CEO. Edwards brings more than 20 years of leadership experience across sales, manufacturing, and software, and has served as the company's chief revenue officer since 2021 after joining in 2017. Prior to MasterControl, he held leadership roles at 3form and Danaher.
Emmes Group elevates AI subsidiary chief to top job. Tech-enabled clinical development organisation Emmes Group named Rama Kondru as CEO. Kondru previously led Veridix AI, the company's AI and technology subsidiary, and arrives in the role with more than 25 years of experience spanning pharmaceuticals, healthcare technology, data science, and academia.
Spine industry veteran takes helm at Providence. California-based Providence Medical Technology selected Lane Major as president and CEO. Major brought more than 25 years of leadership and commercial scaling experience in the medical device and spine sectors, including a track record of helping bring more than 100 FDA-cleared products to market. Most recently, he served as CEO of Zavation Medical Products. Providence Medical focuses on differentiated spinal fusion technologies.
Pace Life Sciences names new president. Pace Life Sciences appointed Andy Fenny as president. Fenny joins the Minneapolis CDMO with more than two decades of experience, having most recently served as chief commercial officer at SK pharmteco. Earlier, he held the position of chief business officer at FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies.
Medidata reshapes leadership team with four appointments. Clinical trial technology company Medidata announced a series of leadership changes as it continued to strengthen its senior team. Ian Marks was appointed chief commercial officer, bringing more than 30 years of experience gained at Amazon Web Services, Salesforce, GSK, Novartis, and Roche; Lisa Moneymaker added the role of chief operating officer to her existing responsibilities as chief strategy officer; long-time company veteran Linda Magrath became senior vice president and head of customer success, services, and support; and Jeff Ventimiglia took on the role of senior vice president, operations, and transformation.
Cellular Intelligence promotes computational biology pioneer to CSO. AI-native biology company Cellular Intelligence appointed Arjun Raj as chief scientific officer. Raj, the Richard K. Lubin Professor of Bioengineering and Professor of Genetics at the University of Pennsylvania, was part of the team that co-developed a foundational method for visualising individual RNA molecules inside single cells. After joining Cellular Intelligence full-time in 2025 as head of computational biology and helping shape the company's experiments, data-generation methods, and model-validation program, he extended his leave from Penn to lead the firm's scientific strategy.
Ember LifeSciences hires product development specialist. Ember LifeSciences named James Braithwaite as chief product officer. Braithwaite most recently held an executive leadership role at SharkNinja and earlier served as head of product development at Dyson. The company develops proprietary temperature-control technologies aimed at improving the transport of medicines and vaccines through the cold chain.
Suppliers bolster commercial leadership. Three life sciences suppliers strengthened their commercial organisations with senior leadership appointments.
- Barentz appointed Matt Mitchell as global vice president of pharmaceuticals on a permanent basis after he successfully led the division as interim head since March 2026. The Netherlands-based company supplies specialty ingredients to the life sciences sector.
- Integrated oral dosage solutions provider ACG named Rajesh Bhogavalli as group chief commercial officer. Before joining ACG, he spent almost 12 years with EPL Limited, most recently serving as president of global supply chain and sustainability, overseeing operations across 11 countries.
- Symbiosis Pharmaceutical Services appointed Jay Chima as vice president of business development. Chima joined from Recipharm, where he served as business development director, and had previously held senior roles at MedPharm and Advanz Pharma. Symbiosis is a specialist sterile GMP manufacturer supporting clinical and commercial biopharmaceutical production.
Avalere president jumps to Genesis. Genesis Research Group selected Sarah Alwardt as executive vice president of real-world evidence and health economics and outcomes research. Most recently, she served as president of Avalere, leading evidence generation, health economics, policy, and market access solutions. Before that, she founded and scaled Ontada, McKesson's oncology research business. Genesis Research Group is a global research organisation specialising in real-world evidence.
MindMaze brings inventor on in advisory role. MindMaze Therapeutics appointed John W Krakauer as strategic advisor. One of the world's most highly cited researchers in motor neuroscience, stroke recovery, and neurorehabilitation, Krakauer was also the original scientific creator of the company's MindPod precision upper-limb rehabilitation system. The Geneva-based organisation develops technology-enabled neurorehabilitation solutions.
