Boosting biotech in Basel – with Valentina Francia

While much of the conversation at LSX in Boston focused on the continued rise of Chinese biotech and the challenges it presents to US firms, some guests were on hand to remind attendees that biotech and techbio innovation are thriving all over the world.

Jonah Comstock touched base with Valentina Francia, manager for ecosystems and investment promotion at Basel Area Business and Innovation, to talk about why many life sciences companies are finding success in Basel, Switzerland and what the area has to offer.

The two also talk about the biotech trend toward remote teams and why there are still benefits to connecting in person in a thriving local ecosystem. And they talk trends, such as the rise in relevance and prominence of techbio firms.
