Being Patient-centric is being Family-centric
Cancer survivor and patient opinion leader Andrew Schorr and his wife Esther Schorr discuss how families should be involved in decision-making around care for patients. Filmed at last week's eyeforpharma conference in Barcelona. Andrew is a medical journalist who was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukaemia in 1996.
In 2005, Andrew and Esther co-founded Patient Power and the patientpower.info web site as the home base for independent audio and video programmes for patients – which are seen around the world. Many of the USA's leading medical centres have supported Patient Power financially - or by donating medical experts' time for programmes. In 2011 Andrew joined with like-minded patient advocates to form the non-profit organisation: Patient Empowerment Network (PEN).
In 2014 Andrew and Esther launched patientpower.eu to help empower cancer and other patients throughout Europe. Andrew is also the author of The Web-Savvy Patient: An Insider's Guide to Navigating the Internet When Facing Medical Crisis, published in 2011.
