Our latest media perspectives interview is with Ron Leuty, biotech reporter at the San Francisco Business Times. Ron shares with us his thoughts on the rise of personalised medicine and how the industry will evolve over the next decade.

It’s been a whole month since our last media perspectives interview – this year sure is going fast! The aim of this series is to speak with members of the media industry to learn a little bit more about reporting on pharma and biotech news.

This month, we speak with biotech reporter at the San Francisco Business Times, Ron Leuty. Ron has been in the media industry for over 25 years, working on a number of different US newspapers, as well as a year working in Prague. We ask Ron about what he views to be the current trends in healthcare, his most interesting biotech story he’s ever reported and his thoughts towards the future.

About the interviewee:

Ron Leuty has covered biotech for the San Francisco Business Times for more than five years, on his second tour of duty with the newspaper.

In between stints at the Business Times, Ron started two business journals in the Detroit area. He also has worked as a reporter, city editor and business editor at daily newspapers and as business editor of the English-language Prague Post.

Ron has won numerous awards, including a 2007 “Best in Business” award from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers for a piece looking at how Bay Area business leaders mobilized and connected with scientists when one of their own was diagnosed with a fatal brain-wasting disease.
