8th Annual Pharma Micro Conference

SMi Report: An exclusive interview with Marine Marius, Scientist, Analytical Research and Development Europe, Sanofi Pasteur just ahead of the 8th Annual Pharmaceutical Microbiology UK conference, taking place in January 2019.

The 8th Annual Pharmaceutical Microbiology UK, will debut in London, on 21 and 22 January 2019. With less than a month remaining, both the pharmaceutical and specialty chemicals industries currently facing both unparalleled opportunities and challenges will gather to address the key trends, challenges and strategies in contamination control.

If you attend the conference, you will gain insight into:
• Challenges in development of a contamination control strategy for different product types
• A series of learning experiences within contamination from Boehringer Ingelheim
• The use of vaporised hydrogen peroxide bio-decontamination technology in microbiology contamination control
• Case studies in deinococcus and fungal and bacterial spores in cleanrooms
• Influence of temperature of incubation on results of microbiological environmental monitoring
• Risk mitigation strategies for animal-derived raw materials

Just under three weeks to go for the conference SMi caught up with Marine Marius, Scientist, Analytical Research and Development Europe at Sanofi Pasteur. Below is a small snippet from her interview below:

What developments within contamination control have really caught your eye in the past year? “These are all dynamic approaches from process analytical technology environment such as on-line bioburden. These approaches aim to produce products with consistent quality and to improve pharma's productivity and environmental impact.”

How would you describe the current challenges in the pharmaceutical microbiology industry? “To me, the current challenges concern the implementation of new technologies with different outcomes of results (e.g. CFU vs cell in FCM) and the difficulty to link to current pharmacopeia.”
