Pharma’s top earners revealed

Ian Read, chief executive of New York-based Pfizer, tops the pharma executive pay league, with remuneration of $25.6 million in 2012.

US pharmaceutical companies paid a median average of $17.2 million last year to their chief executives, a figure that almost doubles the European average.

AstraZeneca and Novartis are the most recent to feature in executive pay controversies in the pharma industry, with concerns over so-called “golden” payments to joining or departing CEO.
