Bayer chief to return to Novartis

Bayer has announced that its chairman of the Board of its healthcare division, Dr Jörg Reinhardt, is to leave his position in summer 2013 as he wishes to return to his former employer, Novartis.
Jörg has been Chairman of the Board of Management of Bayer HealthCare AG since 15th August 2010. He was formally the Chief Operating Officer of the Novartis Group.
As Daniel Vasella, the chairman of Novartis, steps down next month after 17 years, the Swiss drug company has named Jörg as its new chairman from 1st August 2013.
"With his experience and his commitment, Jörg has played a major part in the very positive development of Bayer HealthCare in recent years. However, we accept his decision to continue his career in his adopted country of Switzerland and wish him all the best for the future."

During the interim, Bayer’s head of research and development, Wolfgang Plischke will become head of Bayer Healthcare until a successor is appointed.
