Anthony Grosso has been appointed to the role of head of scientific affairs at Accord Healthcare Europe.

Dr Grosso will be responsible for overseeing Accord’s strategy for sustained patient access to innovative, added-value, cost-effective and critical medicines. He will report to James Burt, executive vice-president, Europe and MENA at Accord. Dr Grosso is a registered pharmacist with a First-Class BSc (Hons) from Brighton, an MSc with Distinction from Belfast and a PhD from London. He has a long-standing interest in the efficient use of medicines, in particular with biologics, generics and biosimilars, which has led to him authoring numerous publications in these areas.

“We are thrilled to have Anthony join our senior team at Accord,” said Dr Burt. “There is a real opportunity to improve patient access to high quality medicines and for generics companies like us to drive the development of added-value medical innovations – we are always looking to make it better for healthcare systems and ultimately patients. Anthony’s experience in running pharmaceutical businesses and his time at the coal-face of pharmacy delivery will help us achieve these goals and adds to our burgeoning team of generics and biosimilar specialists.”

Dr Grosso added: “Scientific Affairs is a new function at Accord Healthcare which encompasses regulatory and medical affairs, medicines information, healthcare compliance, pharmacovigilance and drug safety. I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to build and lead this function with a prime focus being to help improve patient care.”
