JP Morgan 2023 – Robin Roberts

Robin Roberts, COO and co-founder of the Novartis Biome, was on site at JP Morgan last month in San Francisco, but we weren’t able to pin him down for an interview. So, pharmaphorum editor-in-chief Jonah Comstock took to Zoom to conduct a post-JP Morgan conversation instead. 

The Novartis Biome is a startup innovation hub supported by Novartis, with the goal of finding and supporting startups with good ideas in the digital health ecosystem. Roberts discusses what the Biome is and how it works, understanding and addressing the pain points of startup-pharma deal making, and why healthcare systems are an important stakeholder to work with in the digital innovation world. 

They also discuss the state of digital therapeutics and pharma more broadly – lessons learned from early missteps and the importance of using digital therapeutics as the right tool for the right job, rather than expecting them to solve all problems. And they look ahead to the future of digital health in 2023.
