Welcome to the August edition of Changing Faces’ digital and supplier edition. This was a bit of a slower month, but it wasn’t completely without notable moves. Read on for some highlights.

Arctoris bolsters leadership team. Arctoris, a technology-enabled drug discovery services company with headquarters in Oxford, UK, and Boston, USA, announced a comprehensive overhaul of its executive team following a growth spurt:

  • Tom Fleming, a co-founder and former COO of Arctoris, stepped into the role of CEO, replacing fellow co-founder Martin-Immanuel Bittner.
  • Dr Kinga Bercsenyi joined as chief business officer, bringing scientific experience from Cerba Research, Cancer Research, and Wellcome Trust, as well as business acumen from Champions Oncology.
  • Paul Custance, a chartered accountant with over 15 years of senior finance leadership experience, was appointed chief financial officer.
  • Dr Alice Roworth was promoted from VP of operations to chief operating officer.
  • Sally Cullen, a strategic HR leader with finance and tech start-up experience, took on the role of chief people officer.
  • Dr Anthony Rowen-Brown became chief scientific officer, bringing 30 years of drug discovery experience, including 11 Investigational New Drug (IND) applications.

A tale of two Ryans. Lifecore Biomedical, a Minnesota-based CDMO focusing on injectable products, appointed Ryan Lake as chief finance officer. Lake, who previously served as CFO of Societal CDMO before its acquisition by CoreRx, succeeds John Morberg, who stepped down to spend more time with family. Meanwhile KeySource, a wholesale supplier of generic prescription medications, promoted Ryan Sevek to president. Sevek, who joined KeySource in 2017, was serving as CFO prior to this internal promotion.

UK CROs build out teams. Richmond Pharmacology, a UK CRO specialising in first-in-human studies and adaptive clinical trials for gene editing and gene silencing therapies, promoted Liz Romano to director of communications and participant engagement. Romano joined the company two years ago as head of marketing. And Sygnature Discovery, an integrated drug discovery CRO based in the UK and Canada, appointed Jade Dagher as general manager, Canada. Dagher brings 35 years of pharma experience, including 25 years in various leadership roles at Merck.

Digital health companies add to C-Suites. The digital health and diagnostics sectors also saw significant leadership changes:

  • AmalgamRx, a platform company connecting healthcare companies with digital health and digital therapeutic offerings, welcomed Scott Bechtler-Levin as chief customer success officer. Bechtler-Levin's experience includes roles at Boston Consulting Group, Evidation Health, and Redesign Health.
  • MDLinx, an online physician portal owned by clinical education company M3, appointed Katya Petrova chief commercial officer. Petrova brings a background in healthcare marketing solutions to the role.
  • Viome, an at-home testing company focusing on microbiome analysis, named Kal Raman as chief operating officer. Raman previously served as SVP at Amazon and CDO at Samsung.

That’s it for this edition of Changing Faces. Don’t forget that Board appointments are now in their own separate edition. Remember, if you’ve had a recent appointment and you work in or around the pharma space, we want to hear about it.
