Deep Dive:
Oncology 2025
Dear Readers,
The calendar never really slows down at Deep Dive. From ASCO to BIO to HLTH, our team’s been on the move – crossing time zones and swapping notes with some of the most forward-thinking people in healthcare. But, no matter where we go, or who we speak to, one theme keeps coming up: persistence.
It’s a word that’s stuck with me, cropping up in presentations, hallway chats, and post-event debriefs where you hear what really goes on behind the scenes. In oncology especially, persistence doesn’t just stand out – it’s the beating heart of progress.
In this issue, we dig into what that looks like today. From researchers uniting animal and artificial intelligence to speed up cancer detection, to finding new ways of building more effective cancer drugs with AI – this edition is full of stories about pushing forward when the outcome isn’t guaranteed. We also revisit the journeys of pioneers who kept going when the path ahead wasn’t clear, and whose work helped build the foundation for today’s breakthroughs.
What ties it all together is the mindset: refusing to settle for “not yet” or “not possible.” Whether it’s overcoming failed trials, shifting funding landscapes, or navigating the complexities of today’s regulatory landscape, the people shaping oncology today keep moving, learning, adjusting, and trying again.
That kind of persistence keeps this field evolving – and it’s why we’re proud to share these stories with you.
Happy scrolling.
