Continues from "Editor's voice - April 2011"

Welcome to the May update of Editor’s voice - another glimpse behind the editorial veil of pharmaphorum. You won’t be surprised to hear that it’s been another busy month. You may remember that we recently stepped up the content from three articles a week to five, but may increase that further yet with so much great content coming our way. We certainly can’t complain and as we battle to give you a steady stream of strong and diverse articles we’re trying to put out efforts into forward planning so that a more structured plan is in place for future content. You can expect to see a number of series on pharmaphorum and regular content covering our different categories.

What you may have missed

In case you missed any of our great content this month, here are some highlight of what we featured.

• An interview with Craig DeLarge who’s no stranger to social media, as part of our social pharma faces series.

• A peek into the world of oncology drug development with our interview with Sally Collins and an insight into helping patients with rare diseases offered through our interview with Geoff McDonough.

• The first of Richard Heale’s wonderfully illustrated series offering reasons for pharma’s reluctance to engage in social media.

• A video reported glimpse of the SFE event in Europe.

• An entertaining reflection on how pharma has changed over the past 30 years from Neil Dickinson.

And that’s only the half of it, browse through our articles to see what you may have missed.

Don’t miss out!

And of course, you won’t miss out if you follow our social medial channel updates, as many of you do. Another social media milestone was achieved this month with the addition of our 100th Facebook fan. But we’re not content on stopping there so if you haven’t yet ‘like’d’ our Facebook page, what are you waiting for?

We’ve also taken the plunge and opened up our Linked group. You can now comment within this group and use this platform to follow our content updates. The group provides a great source of feedback on pharma topics if you want to conduct some light research. Which is exactly what Jane Chin did when she posed the question:- How do today's pharma employees feel about their jobs as pharma professionals - in 3 words or less? Jane will be following up from this with an article on pharmaphorum on her findings.

Ever-expanding pipelines

Since my last blog our pipelines have increased dramatically, with many more one-off pieces and some great series lined up for you.

You can look forward to a monthly mobile health app review from Michael Spitz of Ignite Health, which will begin in June. We also have an R&amp,D series coming up and a patient perspective series offering a different angle on areas such as rare diseases.

A regular piece from our very own Paul Tunnah, who will begin his blog on 15th June, is another new addition. We’ve also been lucky enough be able to schedule regular ‘Expert Review’ articles that feature hot topics on pharma, written by experts in the field. You can expect to see the first piece on market access soon on pharmaphorum.

An advisory board is born

We are keen that we cover a diverse range of topics to keep everyone interested. We also want to make sure we are aware of and publishing content on issues that affect each function and geographic region. To do this we need some outside help to advise on what issues are currently of interest in each country and what topics are being discussed in different sectors of pharma. Therefore, it made sense that we enlist the help of an Editorial Advisory Board who could offer advice and guide us on what hot topics we need to cover.

I’d like to thank the Editorial Board members who have already agreed to take on this position so far:-

• Mike Rea, IDEA Pharma, UK

• Alex Butler, Janssen, UK

• Chris Stevenson, CSC Solutions, UK

• Rich Meyer, Online Strategic Solutions, US

• Ian Talmage, Bayer Healthcare, Germany

We’re grateful to be taking advice from such experts who can guide our content and help pharmaphorum to grow.
