Executive perspectives: Deepak Khanna

Paul Tunnah interviews Deepak Khanna

The Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI)

Our latest executive perspectives interview is with Deepak Khanna, about his roles as both Managing Director at MSD and also as the new President of the Assocation of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI).

Good health is something most people take for granted, but behind-the-scenes, the pharmaceutical industry has played, and continues to play, an important part in improving health and wellbeing for the population of the UK. While the healthcare landscape regularly changes, the pharmaceutical industry also remains as a major contributor to the UK’s economy. One government-recognised organisation, whose mission is to help the pharma industry stay at the forefront of helping patients prevent and overcome diseases, is the ABPI. Leading this mission is Deepak Khanna, who took on the role as President of the ABPI in April 2012.

In our interview, Deepak shares with us his unique experiences working within the pharma and healthcare industries for the past 24 years, in various roles from sales, marketing and early market access, plus how these experiences will help to shape his new role at the ABPI. Currently also serving as Managing Director of MSD, we speak with Deepak about how he is balancing his time and energy between the two roles and what he hopes to achieve during his tenure at the ABPI.
