A new pharmaceutical podcast putting health heroes in the spotlight debuts in the runup to Rare Diseases Day 2020 with an instalment focusing on Gaucher disease.

The monthly Health Heroes podcast series is produced by Kantar, in association with pharmaphorum, and episode one looks at understanding the impact of a rare disease.

It features Taryn Earley, the grandmother of a child suffering with Type 3 Gaucher disease, and Kantar’s Michael Fronstin who discuss rare diseases and caregiving challenges.

A debilitating condition, Gaucher disease impacts one in 100,000 live births and is caused by a deficiency of a specific enzyme (glucocerebrosidase) in the body impacting the spleen, liver, kidneys, lungs, brain and bone marrow.

The episode also considers how patient registries can help deliver new treatment innovations as well as better outcomes for rare disease patients.

The Health Heroes podcast will focus on patients, their health journey and unmet needs, and how the life sciences industry can contribute to improving health outcomes, and is presented by pharmaphorum’s Dominic Tyer.
