The empowerment of data and predictive outcome models

Digital
pharmaphorum podcast Episode 145a

Value-based care is at the centre of industry discussions at the moment, not only advancing quality and equity in healthcare, but also accelerating innovation in care delivery.

In today’s podcast, web editor Nicole Raleigh speaks with Carolyn Ward, director of clinical strategy at Particle Health Inc, a data transformation platform for healthcare, enabling organisations across the care continuum to turn medical records into actionable insights.

No-one has time to flip through a 200 page pdf to find the information they seek these days, and so it is that healthcare data and clinical electronic health records (EHRs) have come into play.

Furthermore, value-based care ties incentives to the quality of the outcomes being provided, as opposed to fee for service structures, as most care in the US still is.

Also discussing the ethics of AI use in healthcare data management, Ward provides a useful overview of the landscape at the moment, how biases can be avoided, and the possibilities for the future.

At the end of the day, though, personal health data and the whole person profile provided by the gathering of many different sources, including wearables, serves to help empower providers and patients both with personalised predictive models of care.
