Inspiration: a report highlighting IPF

Marking Rare Disease Day this week, Boehringer Ingelheim UK’s report Inspiration is a collaboration between patients, patient groups and leading clinicians with the aim of putting IPF in the spotlight and bringing hope to those with the condition. IPF is a rare disease that is relatively unheard of, frequently misdiagnosed and little understood.

More than 15,000 people in the UK have IPF, a fatal condition characterised by permanent scarring of the lungs and loss of lung function over time. Currently, the average time to diagnosis is one-to-two years following the onset of symptoms, and the majority of patients will not live more than three years from that diagnosis. The report, produced in conjunction with pharmaphorum media, calls for greater awareness and understanding of this devastating condition.
